Harassment looks coordinated when a few accounts do most of the posting. A big crowd alone proves nothing.
A post that goes viral pulls in hundreds of strangers at once. That can feel organized when it isn't. These five facts tell the two apart.

Who is doing most of the posting?
- Count replies per account. If 10 accounts wrote half of 400 replies, that's a few accounts doing most of the pushing.
- If 400 different people each posted once, it's a crowd. Ugly, but not organized.

Did they arrive at the same minute?
- Lots of accounts posting within the same few minutes is a sign.
- But compare it to the hour around it. When a big account shares your post, everyone shows up together anyway.

Are they using the same words?
- The same sentence, the same hashtag, the same screenshot, from accounts that don't follow each other.
- Copy and paste is one of the clearest signs there is.

How old are the accounts, and what else do they post?
- Write down facts: "created 9 days ago, 3 followers, every post is about me."
- Don't write "bot" or "paid". You can't prove that, and it weakens your report.

Did it start on another site?
- A Reddit thread, a forum post or a screenshot from a group chat, and then the crowd arrives.
- That's someone pointing people at you. Save the link to the place it started.

- Intent. Whether they planned it, or just piled in.
- Payment. Whether anyone was paid.
- Private planning. Discords and group chats, unless a screenshot leaks.
- Stick to what you can show. Platforms act on facts.

- Hoaxy is retired. Indiana University folded it into OSoMeNet.
- Bot Sentinel is still a "coming soon" page. Its May 2026 relaunch date has passed.
- Block Party joined DeleteMe and is now a privacy cleanup tool, not a harassment filter.
